Ohh bloggy blog how we've missed you! We've been ohhh sooo busy...

Busy getting wasted and blacking out. Busy having orgies. Busy cuckolding. Busy telling the man to fuck off. Busy prepping our mini donkey, Dirk, for the donkey show (there's one part of him that's not so mini...his big fat floppy donkey dick). Busy eatin rainbows and shittin stars. You know sweet-ass stuff like that.

And in the midst of all that awesomeness, we've even had time to do a little work. We're mixing a few B-sides, which we'll be releasing on a 7" Vinyl and digitally for the upcoming tour. The record is tentatively titled, The Soft Side. It features 2 songs from the Madness in Miniature sessions, both of which have laid back, mellow characteristics, with subtle hints of vanilla and genitals. Like a fine wine. Something good to bang to. Or cry to. The choice is yours. Maybe you could bang and cry at the same time??

We've also been in the midst of music video madness. We're wrapping up pre-production on our next music video, which we'll be shooting this weekend! The video is for House of Circles and will be based on the characters found on the Madness in Miniature album cover. We'll try to make it beautiful, exciting, and moving, but it'll probably just end up being weird, confusing and frightening.

We're also happy to announce our first pressing of Madness in Miniature on coke-bottle green vinyl is nearly sold-out! We'll have a second pressing available featuring coke-bottle green with Orange Splatter available very very soon!

Oh yeah, one more important announcement. We're gonna be hittin the road again this spring. Dates below with more TBA. See you all very soon!!!

Well, our third album is officially 5 months late but today is the day we reveal what we've been doing with all of our time off. We are very pleased to announce that we will be releasing our third full length record, Madness in Miniature on October 25th, 2011.

We recorded this beast last September with our wonderfully talented amigo, Justin Smith at Pink Duck Studios in L.A., and with the magnificent Beau Sorenson right here in our very own basement. Tracking took a total of two weeks and then Beau took that bitch back with him to Portland for mixing. We took the beginning of this year to add some more bells and whistles...interludes, a few more home recordings engineered by yours truly...all while drinking mass amounts of Tequila and partying with none other than my main man, Darth Vapor. The end result...pure fuckin madness...hence the name, Madness in Miniature. "What an odd title..." you might be saying. Well, here's an excerpt from a Time Magazine article published in the mid-60s about doctors taking LSD to identify with their schizophrenic patients:

"One of the first theories about LSD was that it was a psychotomimetic—a mimicker of psychoses. The idea offered hope of finding a chemical cure for schizophrenia, as well as of increasing the psychiatrist's empathy with a schizophrenic by giving himself 'madness in miniature' and thereby knowing what his patient was going through."

So there you have it. Here we are disappointing our mothers once again...Sorry Momsie Womsie. Hope you still love us. Would a free download of the first single, "Bit of Tongue" help you love me again?

Hello Friends and Lovers,

Well, we're back in the land of Cleve for the summer, exorcising our demons as we work on our next album. Two weeks into the writing process and Sam has ingested way too much Peyote and now lives in the woods behind our house. The Peyote has seemed to changed him for the worse. I'm not sure what he's living on…probably squirrels. He comes to the window every once in a while to try and mate, but quickly gets confused and scared by his own reflection. I try to coax him back in with a martini but he just yells, shakes his wiener and runs off again. Worry not, I've purchased a tranquilizer gun and will shoot him upon next sighting...

We've been on tour since the end of April so our lives have been consumed with shredding, intoxication, and banging. Thanks to everyone across the country for continually supporting us, coming out to our shows, bringing us drugs, buying us shots and trying to seduce us with other various temptations from the Devil. Here's a run down of our top 10 moments.

Top 10 of Spring Tour 2010:

1. Saw a 300 lb lady fart in another 300 lb ladies face. While this isn't actual footage of the event, it should give you a pretty good idea of what it looked like.

Male Pregnancy and Twilight Stars

Dear Friends and Lovers,

We apologize for neglecting our sweet-ass blog. We've been busy fighting crime and making sweet love to the masses. Sam thinks he may be pregnant...we'll know more in the upcoming weeks.

When we last left off we were busy kickin ass and takin names in the beautiful midwest. Long story short, we got lots of stank on our hang-low and we made it back in one piece. A quick re-cap:

• Spent thanksgiving in San Diego with one of the lead cast members of Twilight:

• We played a rave in Oklahoma City to 250 kids on Ecstasy.

• Got to see our first Flesh Light in Texas courtesy of Generation:Dance.

• In New Orleans, a 350 pound man stripped naked, pinning us against a bar while smacking his nipples in our face:

So far we've visited many wonderful places, from Connecticut, New York and Philadelphia to the Dirty South. We even hit up some new places like Lexington, Kentucky for the first time. We played a very cool bar called The Green Lantern, which prides itself on selling Absinthe.

Sam felt adventurous before the show and decided to try a quick shot. Unfortunately the bar had run out of sugar cubes and instead of a shot gave him a full glass of the green magic on the rocks. Luckily he found his good buddy Keith to carry him out of the bar later that evening...

You may know Keith Twichell from such cult film classics, The Babysitters Club, Alien Smoke Out, and Sweet Dreams. He's also our co-writer for our upcoming video for "Vampires" (coming very soon...)

So we rode the green fairy down to Nashville, playing with our great friends; Six Gun Lullaby, Fuckshow and Thelma and the Sleaze. We love these bands and they've given us a nice little home in Nashville. Later that week we played at a great club in Altanta called the Drunken Unicorn. Don't get too excited. There weren't any unicorns there, let alone a drunkin unicorn. But there was a drunk guy in the corner with a raging boner. That kinda looked unicornish. We ended the week in Birmingham, Alabama with what turned out to be a very interesting night. We were scheduled to play a venue called Magic City Wholesale. Things seemed to be running smoothly. The first band Den of Lions was rippin through their fierce set when all of a sudden the electricity went out on the entire block. Girls began screaming and ripping off their clothes. "I'm melting" yelled one, "My skins burning" yelled another. Men started jumping out of windows and fires erupted all around us. A priest in the crowd yelled, "The end is nighe!"

The promoter from Steel City Booking swooped us up and screamed, "Follow us if you want to live!" We jumped in the van and headed down the street to the Bottletree - where we played on the floor to a very appreciative crowd of survivors.

(Okay, we may have exaggerated, but the electricity really did go out and we did end the night at the Bottletree...it was a shining example of southern hospitality. Thank you Wes for hookin it all up.)

We ended that leg of the tour with a Halloween show in our lovely hometown of Cleveland. The land of Cleve was definitely in the halloween spirit, decked out in some amazing costumes including; Teenwolf, Tobias Funke (from Arrested Development) and a stripper cop who could barely walk. Very classy. Mom would be proud.

Dear Diary,

The kids at school have been teasing us lately...saying that mr. Gnome is the worst band name of all time. I guess it probably wasn't a good idea to name our band after a recurring character from my acid trips. So we're running away. We're goin down south where the grits are tasty and the women's breasts are fluffy and warm like corn bread.

First stop, Lexington, Kentucky at The Green Lantern.

Next we'll be shootin on down to Nashville to play with our wonderful friends Six Gun Lullaby and Fuck Show at The End.

Then down to Atlanta for some crunk juice at the Drunken Unicorn.

On Friday we'll be playing a house party in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at the Spring Hause with A Secret Policeman's Ball - Greg from Secret Policeman was kind enough to invite us down for this one (a quick house party Gnome memory re-cap: we once played a house party where everyone was on acid but us. It was amusing, scary, disturbing and confusing all at the same time. A girl sat in the corner and licked the wall.)

And for our last stop, one of the more progressive cities in the United States, Birmingham, Alabama :) We'll be playing at Magic City Wholesale with a badass instrumental band called Den of Lions.

That's that for this week's tour dates. On a side note...we finally got the mastered version of our new album back. Thanks to Spectre Studio for doing a wonderful job. The album's release date once again will be November 10th. We shot a live performance video of "Spain," the first track on Heave Yer Skeleton. We'll be releasing that within the next few weeks.

Thanks Diary. You always keep my secrets safe. Like the time when we were really drunk and we kidnapped that centuar and trapped it in our basement and used it as a sex slave...

...only to wake up the next morning, hungover and full of regret as we walked down the basement stairs to find this...

First Day of Da Tour...

Man, these last few days have been quite crazy. We just left Madison, Wisconsin and the magical Beau Sorrenson who has been finishing the mixing of our new album. Beau has ears made of pure gold and we love him. He mixed our last album, Deliver This Creature, and never ceases to blow our minds. Thank you beautiful Beau for being a magical forest creature.

New Tracks and Butt Cracks

We just wrapped up the final track for our upcoming album. Adam Korbesmeyer was nice enough to have us at Ante Up Audio in Cleveland to lay down a song we wrote in 3 days called, "Slow Side." We're gonna be heading back out to Pink Duck Studios in the coming weeks to mix and master the beast.

PGH Music Report Interview

We did a fun little interview with PGH Music Report last week:

As mentioned previously, Mr Gnome will be performing at Bloomfield Bridge Tavern Friday night. Doors are at 9p and show begins at 10p (they will be second band up). Mr Gnome was kind enough to give us an interview and as you can read, they have a great sense of humor.

Are you both originally from Cleveland? Do you still reside there?

Yes, we are. Yes, we do.

Your first full length album just came out in 2008 (Deliver This Creature) and I just read on your blog that you recorded the follow-up already. When do you expect that to come out? Will it be on El Marko Records again?

We recorded the follow-up to Deliver This Creature in April at Pink Duck Studios (Josh Homme's studio - lead singer of Queens of the Stone Age). As of right now, our plans are to release the new album in late October. Yes, we will be releasing the record through El Marko Records.

On Deliver this Creature there is a nice mixture of soft to violent songs. Is this a theme that will also be on the new album?

I don't know if we necessarily ever write with a theme in mind, but that tends to happen naturally when we write a batch of songs together. To us, the new material is an extension of where Deliver This Creature left off.

Has the current state of the economy affected any plans you had for your band from travel or recording? To marketing?

No, we've pretty much always been poor and continue to be poor. We're good at it. We are from Cleveland!

I have seen a lot of comparisons of your music from Portishead to Tool. With previous bands you were in did you have this same sound?

Mr. Gnome was actually the first "real" band that both Sam and I were in, as far as actually playing out and releasing albums. Previous to the Gnome, I did a bunch of solo stuff on a four-track that never saw the light of day and Sam was busy in the Adult Film Industry. When we started mr. Gnome, it was just a natural process and this is what came out of those intoxicated sessions.

You have two members...has there always been two or have you ever thought of adding another?

It's always been just the two of us, although we've had guests come up on stage and play a song or two with us. Sure, we've definitely thought about adding more members...not necessarily in the writing process though, just more as live players. Or maybe recruiting people to do a live sex show on stage...something like that maybe...

I saw your video "Night of the Crickets" just recently won 2 Telly Awards. Did you all rcv any money?

Yes, we were very excited about the Telly's! The Telly Awards don't actually give out any money...just some sweet ass statues, maybe we can sell the statues for some cash?

What has been your favorite place to play when on tour?

We're big fans of the pacific northwest...that's probably our favorite at the moment...

Do you create your own artwork for your albums and shirts? Really like it.

Thank you kindly. Yes, we do almost all of our own artwork, video production, and album production between the two of us. But we have had some very great friends do a few designs for us. Our flying Gnome T-shirt was designed by the wonderful artists at Go Media, and our 7" single jacket was illustrated by Alex Alvarez.

Final question from a burgher, how bad does it suck to live in Cleveland?

We did a little photo shoot with photographer Scott Meivogel at The Cleveland Renaissance a few months ago for the latest edition of Cleveland Plus Magazine. Props included parasols, crossed legs, and luggage filled with sex toys. Unfortunately the sex toys didn't make the cut, which is too bad because we had a great double-headed dil and blow-up doll that would've really made The Renaissance seem even classier than it already is.

Without getting too into detail, it's been very disturbing. Mice and or rats are not fun when you're sleeping and they crawl on your feet.

The Week in Review...

So we last left off in Kansas City, Missouri. Let's just say a lot has happened since then...

Our first stop post KC was in Denver, Colorado for a Sunday night show at Bender's Tavern. We met the very nice ladies that make up the two-piece Lady Parts. We were way too loud for the tiny stage, and helped all the nice patrons lose their hearing one song at a time...

Our next stop was Salt Lake City for a Monday night show at Kilby Court. This was one of the coolest little venue set-ups we've ever seen. A little courtyard in the back-end of an ally, with the stage set up in the corner of a garage. This was definitely one of the most interesting bills we've ever been a part of. That's saying a lot considering we've been touring pretty much non-stop for 3 years. The night started off with a puppet show. Followed up by Your Little Pony (an awesome local 2-piece featuring a saw player and slide show) and Provo rapper, Bee Money. It was a night to remember. The kind of night that just puts a big ol' smile on your face.

The next morning we were heading out of the SLC and about 10 minutes into the drive our sweet new van broke down yet again. Oh boy! That put us a few hundred bucks behind and trapped us in SLC for another night. Frack dat.

So to continue our streak of awesomeness...

While we were stuck in SLC we got an email from the booker at The Bouquet in Boise (our next tour date), stating our show had been canceled. Total non-boner. But have no fear our friend Danyol is here (actually he's in Boise). Like the little superman he is, Danyol quickly threw together one of the most kick taint house parties we've ever played. Thank you Danyol. You are the manyol. What a great night. Played to what was literally a "packed house." It was hot, it was sweaty, it was loud, and of course it was horny. Thanks to everyone for squeezing into that little laundry room to watch us perform and thanks to Dylan for hosting the event.

Next up was Portland for a Thursday night show at Kelly's Olympian. Kelly's was a great venue, decked out with antique bikes and a shit-ton of beers on tap. We had a great night and the crowd was wonderful. Overall a smooth running night on the tour from hell.

The streak continued onto Seattle for a show at Jules Maes Saloon. Another fun night at what is soon to be a nonexistent music venue. We are very lucky to have been able to play there twice before it closes. This was a quickly thrown together event replacing our original date at The Georgetown Music Festival, which unfortunately was rescheduled. We were very disappointed the fest got moved, but the crowd at Jules Maes more than made up for it. They were even nice enough to give us some lightnin cakes at the end of the night. "Only eat a little" were the instructions. Come on, we're pros. I'll just eat the whole thing. Wow. LIGHTNIN. Probably shouldn't have done that. Whoops.

Twas a night filled with uncontrollable laughter and tingly confusion. We woke up the next morning still flyin high. Had breakfast with our great friends Johnny Cop and Gravy in a Chinese restaurant that oddly enough resembled more of bordello/strip club than a breakfast eatery serving omlettes?? It was a very surreal dining experience. No windows, morning drinkers at the bar, karaoke, and all whilst high on pot crossed buns. Would this enormous buzz ever go away? Yes...but not for about 24 hours. No worries though. Driving through one of the most beautiful parts of the country high on pot butter is actually really fun!

So somewhere between Seattle, Washington and San Francisco, California we lost something very important. Something very near and dear to us. Something that people give their hard earned money to hear. Yes, we lost Nicole's voice. "Where'd it go?" "I don't know, you had it last." "I thought you had it." "No, no, no. Remember I asked you to grab it before we left." "Well now it's gone. Must'a left it at the truck stop when we were giving BJs in the back stall." "Oh well, now some sweet truckers got it."

I think that's how the conversation went. At least that's how I remember it going. There is an alternate version to the story. Goes a little sumpin like dis...

We're one song into our set in San Francisco at The Elbo Room, and Nicole blows her voice out. Forcing us to quit the set and leave some people scratching their heads. One person commented, "That was the most punk-rock set ever." It really was. Playing 1/2 of one song, then barely playing 1 full song and walking off stage. Pretty punk, except we weren't trying to be. We actually felt horrible, but there was nothing we could do. No voice= no show. Kinda hard for a 2 piece to pull off a performance when 1/2 the band can't perform. But the night was still filled with amazing music. We got to share the stage with some very good friends, Juanita and The Rabbit, and Low Red Land. Both fantastic people and bands. They both play all over this fine country, so please keep a look out for them, cause chances are they'll be passing through your neighborhood soon.

Unfortunately we've had to cancel our last 2 shows due to the missing voice. But we're gonna make our comeback tonight in San Diego at Bar Pink. Might be a short one, but we'll do all we can!

With 28 days to go we might not have any equipment left by the time we get home. No worries, we've been practicing our a cappella. I still practice the skin flute every day too, so maybe I'll pull that out on stage soon? As expected we're a little sleep deprived. We try and make up for lost time by napping in the van.

Had a great time at The Darkroom in Chicago (except for a mid-set amp breakdown). Got to share the stage with some very talented and diverse groups, including some very nice folks from Asheville, NC, called The Baker Family.

After 2 1/2 hours of drunk sleep at Cousin Greg's apartment, we shot up to Minneapolis. Whilst on the road we were lucky enough to lay our eyes on the biggest, hardest wiener ever. Our mouths were salivating to be filled with warm wiener. We were both very excited. Too excited. But there was no time for wiener, we had to get the amp fixed.

So we made a quick stop at Savage Audio. The fellas at Savage Audio are as nice and professional as they come. We highly recommend them. Played at 501 Club with a lot of bands with a lot of equipment packed into a very small space. Good times. Our new friend Lisa was nice enough to take some pics of our performance.

Next up was Kansas City. Played with a great band called The Life and Times at the Record Bar. We've played with these guys before in Omaha, Nebraska. They put on a great show, check em out.

Silver Bullets and Black Beauty

Tour Day 1:

Well we almost didn't make it to St. Louis last night. We pulled out of the driveway in our new van, "The Silver Bullet" aka "The Coors Cruiser," and got to the stop sign with glorious smiles of anticipation and excitement, only to have our hopes dashed when lil' Coors decided she was broken. We tried rubbing her in all the right places, but we couldn't turn her on. After a little help from the local mechanic, she was revved up and hotter than ever. We were on our way.

We arrived at The Firebird in St. Louis to a wonderfully appreciative crowd. We unveiled 5 new songs, a new guitar (black beauty), and played with some great folks.

We're getting ready to hit the road again. Should be unveiling a few new tunes this tour...actually half our set could turn into what is to be our new album. We finally finished up tracking this past Monday. Mixing should begin very shortly. 13 tracked all together, had to drop one cause it just wasn't coming together for us. Not sure of an official release date yet. We had to put things on hold a bit so we could hit the road again this summer, and again in September/October. We added a few more dates for the summer tour, and should have a few more coming.

Homeward Bound & Festival Sounds

Well, we're on our way back to the Cleve. We'll be wrapping up the tracking of the new tunes at Ante Up Audio. Doing some vocal overdubs and guitar noodling. We've got about 14 songs rolling right now, not sure how many will make the official release, but we'll probably make them all available in some fashion at some point (you may have to do sexual favors for them).

On a side note, we were recently invited to play a festival in Seattle this summer called The Georgetown Music Festival. It's an outdoor event and it looks like it'll be a lot of fun. We'll be doing a little tour out and back starting late May and ending late June. Dates below with more tba.

We've successfully made our trek across this great land, and are now in the magical Pink Duck Studios with our new BFF, Justin Smith. In between drinking, chats of time travel, and watching episodes of Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, we've managed to start tracking our new album. Justin was nice enough to sit down with us and answer a few questions for all you readers out there.

Mr. Gnome: What size shoe do you wear?
Justin Smith: 12

MG: Near sighted or far sighted?
JS: Near sighted.

MG: Acid or mushrooms?
JS: That's a good question cause they both take you on a different journey in my opinion. I'd say in my youth, acid...now that I'm an old man... I guess mushrooms...or mesculin.

MG: Original bsg or new bsg?
JS: Oh my gods. I can't believe you asked me that question. Edward James Olmos is the best frackin Adama ever.

MG: Iron maiden or man o war?
JS: That's a tough one again. For musical value, definitely Iron Maiden but for a laugh, Man O'War.

MG: Most likely to destroy mankind: cylons or aliens?
JS: Definitely Cylons. Nanotechnologies....

MG: Do you like to party?
JS: Is a cleft mossy? But there's a time and place for everything.

MG: Sex or drugs, or sex and drugs?
JS: Sex and drugs.

MG: Do you like to party?
JS: Only with my friend, Thorton Reed, and Nicole because she's the Enya of metal, and Sam because he's the Yanni of drums.

Just a little update...

We'll be in Pink Duck Studios next week tracking our new album. Looks like we'll be touring again starting late-May through June. It'll be a coast-to-coaster, but we probably won't make it up to New England. But we'll definitely make it up that way behind the new album (Octoberish). We'll have some tour dates to share in the coming week. D.X. Ferris at Scene Magazine gave us a nice mention in last weeks edition.

As most of you know, there are two things we love:

What does this have to do with anything? Well, we're still wrapping up the writing process for our follow-up, full-length album. 8 done, 4 or so to go, and a lot of pieces parts that may or may not make the cut. The new stuff seems to be hitting on points we only touched upon on Deliver This Creature. A little more psychedelia, a little more sad, a little more happy, a lot more sexxxy, and a lot, lot more horny. Your ears may be tempted to masturbate to some of the new stuff, and that's okay. Just don't do it in public, it can get very messy.

Touring is still on hiatus at the moment, although we're getting a little restless. Probably looking at a few national dates mid to late May through June...hopefully. Although, it may be later. But we can't wait to hit the road again, and sleep on all of your floors, and use your showers, and watch you sleep, and watch you shower. We love you.

Had a great time in Chicago at The Double Door this past weekend. Played with some wonderful bands, including one of our favorites, The Record Low. New album in the works...

Well, this is our first official post in the blogosphere. We've had enough people interested in our album making process, and have had enough requests for a tour blog that we decided to share a little bit of our "music lives" with everyone through our sweet-ass blog. We'll be doing our best to keep you updated with weekly posts on our progress in writing the album, as well as the production, pressing, release, and subsequent touring.

As of right now, our usual constant touring schedule has taken a backseat to our writing. We've been locked in the basement naked and intoxicated working on our new album, which has a tentative release date of September 2009. This will be our follow-up effort to our debut full-length, Deliver This Creature. Right now our plans are to release the new material on CD and vinyl (with a free download card). We're going to be tracking the album at Pink Duck Studios with Justin Smith, which we're both very excited about. Justin has been a part of many very cool projects in some form or another, including: UNKLE, Eagles of Death Metal, QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, et al.

Right now we're about 14 songs deep in the process, with only 4 major meltdowns, 2 "I'm quitting the bands," 1,250 "what the fuck are you doings," 10 "then find a new drummer/singer/guitarist...asshole," and 1 drum set toss. Not bad, right? We plan to keep writing til we have to head out to the studio in April (besides Friday, February 6 - we'll be playing in Chicago at the Double Door with our wonderful friends, The Record Low) and pick what we believe to be our best of the batch to record.
